Overview

Clonazepam is an anxiolytic medication in the benzodiazepine family. It exhibits several pharmacologic properties, which are characteristics of the benzodiazepine class of drugs. It is believed that excessive activity in the brain may lead to anxiety or other psychiatric disorders. Clonazepam affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced to treat seizures and certain types of anxiety disorders. Clonazepam is also used to treat panic disorder in adults.
